A Village With a Story
From Viking raiders to a pirate queen's legendary kidnapping, Howth has been shaped by the sea for over a thousand years. Today it's a thriving fishing village where harbour seals beg for scraps, puffins nest on nearby islands, and cliff paths lead to some of the most dramatic coastline near Dublin.
Howth Castle, one of Ireland's oldest continuously occupied buildings, still sets an extra place at dinner, honouring a promise made to Grace O'Malley in 1576.
