About
Clara Lara is an outdoor family adventure park on the R755 roughly halfway between Laragh and Rathdrum, about 10 minutes' drive from Glendalough, set on the wooded banks of the Avonmore River. It has run since 1983 as a deliberately rustic, low-concrete park, with an obstacle course, zipline, water slides, rowing boats, Amphicats, a tree house and junior go-karts among its attractions, and visitors can bring a picnic or use the on-site barbecues and cafe. It is seasonal, open weekends from late April and daily from late May to early September, and it is the obvious answer for a family day out that needs a break from walking and monastic ruins.
