Sika is the fine-dining room at Powerscourt Hotel, up on the third floor with floor-to-ceiling glass pointed straight at the Great Sugar Loaf, and it is by some distance the most serious cooking within reach of Enniskerry. Contemporary Irish, seasonal, with the kind of pacing and price that make it an occasion rather than a Tuesday. It is named for the sika deer that were introduced to the Powerscourt demesne in the 19th century and spread from here through the whole of the Wicklow Mountains, which is a piece of local history most hotel menus would not bother with. Book ahead; the hotel takes reservations directly by phone or through its dining pages.
