The Martello tower at Sandycove Point where James Joyce stayed for six nights in September 1904, and which he used as the setting for the opening chapter of Ulysses. Built in 1804 to defend against a threatened Napoleonic invasion. Free admission, donations welcome. Run by volunteers.
