Emergency Services

General Emergency

112 or 999

Coast Guard

112 (ask for Coast Guard); the nearest Coast Guard unit is Dún Laoghaire Coast Guard at the East Pier, with the RNLI lifeboat station alongside.

Garda Station

Dún Laoghaire Garda Station, Corrig Avenue, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, A96 N299, +353 1 666 5000

St Vincent's University Hospital, Elm Park, Dublin, D04 T6F4, about 6km. This is the nearest emergency department and it is open 24 hours. The hospital's own emergency department page publishes a consultant led 24/7 service for patients aged 16 years and over. Note that the HSE listing for the same department says age 14 and over, so a 14 or 15 year old should ring 01 221 4358 ahead rather than assume they will be seen. Children under 16 are treated at a Children's Health Ireland emergency department; dial 112 or 999 to be directed.

01 221 4358

St Michael's Hospital

Lower George's Street, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, A96 P902

+353 1 663 9815

Local hospital. Its own website describes an emergency department open 08:00 to 20:00 seven days a week for patients aged 16 and over. It is not open 24 hours and it is not listed on the HSE's find urgent and emergency care service.

Direct emergency department line 01 663 9815; hospital switchboard 01 280 6901. Because the hospital's own page and the HSE service finder disagree about whether this counts as an emergency department at all, do not rely on it: for anything serious, outside 08:00 to 20:00, or for anyone under 16, use St Vincent's University Hospital, Elm Park, Dublin, D04 T6F4, emergency department 01 221 4358, about 6km north, or dial 112 or 999.

St Michael's Hospital in Dún Laoghaire is not open 24 hours. Its own site describes an emergency department open 08:00 to 20:00 seven days a week for patients aged 16 and over; the HSE's find urgent and emergency care service does not list it, so outside those hours, for a child, or for anything serious, go to St Vincent's University Hospital in Dublin 4.
