The castle's principal dining room, built for the Prince of Wales's visit in 1905 and still run to a dress code. Ashford Castle's own guest information says it extends a welcome to non-residents for dining subject to availability, and names this room and afternoon tea specifically, with bookings taken on +353 94 954 6003. That is the one reliable way a day visitor gets inside the building, because the estate grounds themselves are not open to people who are not staying. Note that the castle stands on the County Galway side of the boundary that runs through the estate.
