Moon River Shannon Cruise
About
Moon River is the passenger cruiser moored at the quay beside the Landmark Hotel, and a public sailing on it is the single easiest way to see why the town sits where it does. The boat is fully enclosed and heated, which matters more in Leitrim than the brochure photographs suggest, and the commentary covers the stretch of the upper Shannon between Carrick and the water either side of it. Bookings close at 11am on the day of the cruise and the boat is family-run out of an office on Main Street. There is usually a small allocation left for walk-ups at the pontoon, but that is a gamble on a bank holiday. Small dogs on leads are allowed and have to sit fore or aft; guide dogs travel anywhere.
