About
Carrickcraft runs one of the two big self-drive cruiser fleets based at Carrick, from a marina just downstream of The Dock. No licence is needed and the handover includes tuition, which is the part first-timers underestimate: you are taught to handle the boat, moor it and work a lock before you are let go. The fleet runs from two-berth up to twelve-berth and the marina is a start-and-finish base, so most people take a week out towards Lough Key and Lough Allen or north onto the Shannon-Erne Waterway and bring the boat back here. Parking at the marina is free and outdoors. Reservations are handled from the company's office rather than from the marina itself, and the company is registered in Co. Armagh, so expect a Northern Ireland number when you ring.
