The Oarsman sits halfway down Bridge Street in a room of stone floors and heavy timber that reads as an ordinary Leitrim bar until the food arrives. It is run by the Maher family and has been the town's benchmark kitchen for the better part of two decades, built on suppliers inside a tight radius rather than on a long menu. The bar side keeps its own shorter list; the restaurant upstairs is where the kitchen stretches. Opening is deliberately narrow, Wednesday to Saturday evenings with lunch from Thursday, and the site itself lists Tuesday two different ways, so ring before you walk down early in the week. Book, particularly on a Saturday, because the room is small and Carrick fills up at weekends.
