The Thrupenny Pool and the West End Pool
← All things to do
About
Two outdoor sea pools, both free and both tidal, which the sea refills. The Thrupenny Pool is on the promenade just below Waterworld, roughly 48 by 26 metres and about five feet deep at the sea wall, with paid parking on Atlantic Way from Easter to September. The West End Pool sits in the rocks below the cliff walk on the Sligo side of town, in a residential area with almost no parking, so use the free car park beside Peter Brady Park and walk. Neither pool has a lifeguard. Discover Bundoran's advice is plain: check the tides and watch for the incoming tide, never swim alone, tell someone when you expect to be back, and in an emergency ring 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.
