About
The town beach, right below Main Street and the promenade, and the one to swim at. It is about 500 metres long and opens out to roughly ten acres of sand at low tide, with rocks at both ends and a sandbar offshore that shows at low water. Discover Bundoran says it has held the Blue Flag in every year bar one, and it has had a beach wheelchair since 2022. The lifeguard team works the main beach in the bathing season. Even here, the bathing-water profile warns that rip currents can form inside the patrolled area and that the sandbank shifts with the tides, so swim between the flags. From the beach you can watch the surfers on the Peak, the reef break off the West End, which is for experienced surfers only.
