Left Bank Bistro
Fry Place, Athlone, Co. Westmeath
About
Left Bank Bistro has been cooking on the Left Bank since 1995, a contemporary, fish-forward bistro by the old lock with views across to Athlone Castle. It has picked up recognition over the years from the Michelin Guide, Georgina Campbell and other Irish dining guides, and it is the kind of long-standing, well-run room that a Left Bank food scene gets built around. The setting is part of the draw as much as the cooking, a wheelchair-accessible, air-conditioned dining room looking out at the Norman castle across the water. Book ahead, especially for a table with the view.
