Windsor Great Park & the Deer Park
About
Windsor Great Park spreads south from the Castle over more than five thousand acres of former royal hunting forest, with waymarked walking and cycling routes, some of the oldest oak trees in northern Europe, and a resident herd of red deer in the enclosed Deer Park reached from the Long Walk. It is free to walk on foot, and it is one of the finest pieces of accessible landscape near London, big enough to lose the crowds within minutes. It links to the Long Walk and the Savill Garden, and rewards anything from an hour's stroll to a full day out.
