Eton College & Eton High Street
About
Cross Windsor Bridge and you are in Eton, an almost unspoilt town of antique shops and old inns dominated by Eton College, the school founded by Henry VI in 1440. The college runs public museums and galleries, the Museum of Eton Life, Natural History Museum, Museum of Antiquities and Verey Gallery, with free entry on Sunday afternoons, and ticketed guided Heritage Tours on Friday afternoons from May to September that take in School Yard and College Chapel. It is a quiet, villagey counterpoint to the Castle a ten-minute walk away. Note the Museum of Eton Life is due to close for building works from May to November 2026, so check before planning around it.
