About
Whitstable's best-known pub, built directly on the shingle beach at Island Wall and known locally as "the pub on the beach". It cooks big, home-cooked seasonal pub classics: Guinness-battered cod, seafood boxes, dressed crab claw, Kentish cheese boards and sandwiches, plus half-dozen Whitstable rock oysters. The pub has real film and TV pedigree: Peter O'Toole and Jodie Whittaker share a bottle of champagne here in the 2009 film "Venus", and the TV detective drama "Whitstable Pearl" uses it as a regular meeting spot for its characters.
