Shakespeare's Schoolroom & Guildhall

The Guildhall on Church Street, the room where Shakespeare is thought to have gone to school in the 1570s, run by the independent Shakespeare's Schoolroom Trust rather than by the Birthplace Trust. The building is still used for teaching: lessons for King Edward VI School take place inside until 11am every day in term time, which is why the museum opens at 11am. It is open every day 11am to 5pm, with last museum entry at 4.15pm, and closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Guides talk you through Tudor school life, and there are medieval wall paintings and dressing-up. It can be bought alone or added to a Birthplace ticket.
