Anne Hathaway's Cottage
About
The thatched, timber-framed farmhouse at Shottery, about a mile out of the centre, where Anne Hathaway grew up before she married Shakespeare. It is run by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, with gardens and grounds around the house and a Garden Cafe on site, and the Trust says the walk from the town centre takes 30 to 35 minutes, with a walking map on its site. There are cycle racks near the entrance and a chargeable ANPR car park in Cottage Lane. From 16 March to 1 November 2026 it opens daily 10am to 5pm (last entry 4.30pm); from 2 November to 23 December, 10am to 4pm (last entry 3.30pm). You do not need to pre-book, though the Trust recommends it.

Shakespeare's New Place
The garden on the site of Shakespeare's last home, at 22 Chapel Street. Free with a Birthplace ticket; listed 11am to 3pm from 1 September.
Shakespeare's Schoolroom & Guildhall
The Guildhall schoolroom on Church Street, open 11am to 5pm because lessons still run there until 11am in term time.
