About
The city's museum and art gallery, known as the Smith, on Dumbarton Road. It was founded in 1874 with the bequest and collection of Thomas Stuart Smith, according to Art Fund, and entry is free. Guinness World Records lists the Smith as home to the world's oldest football, a grey leather ball found behind the panelling of a room at Stirling Castle in the 1970s and dated to between 1540 and 1570. The rest of the collection covers the history of Stirling and its art.
