Bannockburn battlefield and monuments
About
The site on the southern edge of Stirling of the Battle of Bannockburn, fought on 23 and 24 June 1314. The National Trust for Scotland closed its visitor centre on 1 October 2026 for a refurbishment that Central FM reported will cost £3 million, and the Trust says the centre will reopen in mid-2028. The Trust also says the monuments and grounds remain open, which means the rotunda and the mounted statue of Robert the Bruce, both renovated for the battle's 700th anniversary. Do not travel out expecting the indoor battle experience; come for the statue, the rotunda and the ground itself.
