The functional heart of the town: a genuine working harbour where boats still land mackerel and crab, framed by Smeaton's Pier, extended in the 1770s by the civil engineer John Smeaton and topped with a small lighthouse. Departure point for St Ives Boats' Seal Island trips and the natural place to watch the tide turn.
