About

The pottery Bernard Leach founded with the Japanese potter Shoji Hamada in 1920, the birthplace of British studio pottery and still a working pottery today. The shop sells hand-thrown stoneware in the Leach Standard Ware tradition alongside work by contemporary studio potters based on site. The pottery's museum wing is currently closed for restoration; the operator's own pages give conflicting reopening estimates (late 2026 on one page, Spring 2027 on another), so confirm current status before visiting for the museum specifically. The working pottery and shop remain open throughout.
