About
A cobbled, steep fifteenth-century street often called one of the most photographed in England, lined with timber-framed houses including the so-called 'House with Two Front Doors' and 'House Opposite', and home to the historic Mermaid Inn, whose cellars date to 1156 beneath a building rebuilt in 1420. It is only a five-minute walk from top to bottom, but go early or late in the day, since it draws real crowds by mid-morning.
