About

Oxford's Covered Market has traded under one roof off Market Street since the 1770s, and today holds more than fifty independent businesses: butchers and a fishmonger, the Oxford Cheese Company, florists, barbers, bakers, coffee roasters and a run of small food counters covering everything from pizza to Thai and Ethiopian cooking. It is where the city centre actually shops, which makes it the best cheap lunch in central Oxford and the best place to assemble a Port Meadow picnic. Open Monday to Wednesday 8am to 5:30pm, Thursday to Saturday to 10pm with the evening food and drink venues carrying it late, and Sunday 10am to 5pm.
