Magdalen College
About
Pronounced maud-lin, and for many people the most beautiful of the colleges: the Great Tower over Magdalen Bridge, medieval cloisters, and grounds that include a deer park (the Grove) and Addison's Walk, a mile-round riverside circuit around a water meadow. The college is open to visitors daily from early January to 19 December, 10am to 4pm in winter, 5pm from April and 6:30pm July to September, with adult admission at £10 and a joint Botanic Garden ticket available; tickets are sold online through the college's own ticketing and at the lodge. As at every Oxford college, parts close for events and college life, and September brings extra closed dates, so check the college website before making it the centrepiece of a day. On 1 May the college choir sings from the top of the Great Tower at 6am to a packed bridge below.

- →Open daily 2 January to 19 December and closed 20 to 31 December; 10am to 4pm in winter, to 5pm April to June and 6:30pm July to September, last entry 10 minutes before closing (college ticket shop, checked 2026-10-11).
