Dog & Gun
2 Lake Road, Keswick, Cumbria CA12 5BT
About
The pub at the top of Lake Road, a few steps off the Market Square, and the one Keswick sends people to for goulash. Greene King, who own it, say on the pub's own page that its homemade Hungarian goulash has been made here for years and comes in small and large portions. It takes no bookings at all: the pub's page says it only accepts walk-ins, so on a wet summer evening expect to wait for a table or squeeze in at the bar. Dogs are welcome, which in Keswick matters, and there is a beer garden on the street side. The pub's page gives the bar as open from 11.30am to 11pm (10.30pm on Sundays) and food from 11.30am to 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays and to 8.30pm on other days.
