Britannia Royal Naval College tours
About
The red-brick college on the hill above the town is a working military establishment, not a visitor attraction; the Britannia Association says Dartmouth and the river have been home to the Royal Navy's initial officer training since 1863. The only way in for the public is a guided tour sold by the Britannia Association. Tours meet at 9.45am at the bandstand in Royal Avenue Gardens in the town, go up by small coach and then walk the college for about two and a quarter hours, from its early history through the Second World War to the training it does now. Photo ID is required for everyone over 16, and photocopies are not accepted: a passport, photo driving licence, military ID or senior citizen bus pass. Dates are limited, roughly weekly in autumn 2026, and some sell out.
