Accessibility
Town
Central Bath is compact and mostly flat along the river terrace, but the Georgian upper town climbs: Gay Street up to the Circus and the Royal Crescent is a steady hill, and the Skyline paths are steep, uneven field and woodland routes. Pavements in the centre are broad; some lanes are cobbled.
Bath Spa station has step-free access to all platforms including Changing Places facilities (per its National Rail station page). The Roman Baths' main Roman levels are wheelchair accessible via lifts; check each venue directly for detail. The Park & Ride buses are accessible low-floor services.

Bath is effectively cashless-friendly: contactless card and phone payment are accepted almost everywhere, including the Christmas market chalets. Bank branches and free ATMs cluster along the SouthGate to Milsom Street spine.

For urgent but non-life-threatening problems, the Urgent Treatment Centre at the same site is open 08:00-22:00 daily; call NHS 111 first if in doubt.

NHS Urgent Treatment Centre
Verified on ruh.nhs.uk (2026-07-24): open 08:00-22:00, seven days a week, adjacent to the Emergency Department and sharing its entrance, for urgent problems that are not life-threatening. The RUH advises contacting NHS 111 (phone or online) first, which can book you in or point you to a GP, pharmacy or minor injuries unit. Visitors needing a GP can register as a temporary patient with any Bath practice; 111 will direct you.

Rate: Parking is free for bus users returning the same day; you pay for the bus. Confirm current fares with the operator before travelling.
The strongly recommended way to bring a car to Bath, verified on visitbath.co.uk (2026-07-24): three sites, seven days a week, buses up to every 15 minutes with a roughly 10-minute run into the centre, running until 23:30 Monday-Saturday and 18:00 on Sundays and public holidays. Lansdown suits arrivals from the M4, Newbridge from Bristol on the A4, Odd Down from the south. Central car parks exist but are pricier and fill fast. Note Bath's Clean Air Zone: private cars and motorbikes are NOT charged (verified on bathnes.gov.uk), so ordinary visitors by car pay nothing to enter the zone.
