About

Silver Strand is a small sandy cove between rocky headlands at Dunbur Upper, a few minutes south of Wicklow Town, reached through Wolohan's Silver Strand Caravan and Camping Park, which has been operating on the site for more than seventy years. It is a lovely beach and a genuinely quieter alternative to Brittas Bay, and it is worth being precise about two things. It is a privately managed access, so parking and any charges are the caravan park's, not the council's. And although Wicklow County Council monitors Silver Strand as one of the county's identified bathing waters under the Bathing Water Regulations, it is not on the council's list of lifeguarded beaches, which covers Wicklow Harbour, Brittas Bay North, Brittas Bay South, Greystones South, Bray Promenade and Arklow. There is no lifeguard at Silver Strand at any point in the year.
