About

The North Slob, a short drive north of Wexford town centre off the Wexford-to-Curracloe road, is an internationally important wintering ground for wildfowl, managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Over 260 bird species have been recorded here, with Greenland white-fronted geese, Brent geese, Bewick's swans and wigeon among the highlights; the reserve also holds 29 duck species and 42 wader species across the year. Winter is the peak season for the wintering geese and swans, though the reserve is worth a visit across most of the year for general birdwatching.
