About 70 km from Lahinch, roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by road via the N85 to Ennis and then the M18 south. This is the nearest full Emergency Department; there is no A&E anywhere in Co. Clare.

Clare, V95 HN29, +353 65 686 3121) is much closer, about 31 km and roughly 30 minutes away, and it is open 8am to 8pm seven days a week. It is a Local Injury Unit only: it treats non-life-threatening injuries such as fractures, sprains, minor burns and minor head injuries, it takes patients aged 5 and over, and it is not open 24 hours. For anything serious or life-threatening dial 112 or 999; the destination is the Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick, not Ennis. When GP surgeries are closed, Shannondoc is the out-of-hours GP service, based at Ennistymon Community Hospital, Dough, Ennistymon, V95 CD58, 0818 123 500 (phone first).
