University Hospital Limerick (full 24-hour Emergency Department), approximately 57km / around 1 hour's drive via the N85 and M18/N19.
Ennis Injury Unit (Ennis Hospital, Gort Road, Ennis, Co. Clare, V95 HN29, tel. 065 686 3121) is closer, about 26-29km away, and open 8am-8pm seven days a week, but it is a Local Injury Unit only, treating non-life-threatening injuries such as fractures, sprains, minor burns and minor head injuries in patients aged 5 and over. It is not a substitute for the Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick for anything serious.
