About

Reenagross Park is a free woodland walk on the edge of the town, running through mature wood and out along the shore of the tidal estuary where the Roughty and the Sheen meet Kenmare Bay. Surfaced and gravel paths loop through the trees and down to the water, with glimpses of the bay, the mountains and the birdlife of the shore, and it is an easy, sheltered escape a short walk from the square. It is the best low-effort walk in Kenmare itself, good in most weather and a favourite with locals for a stroll. Free and open; wear shoes that suit soft ground after rain.

Highlights

  • Mature woodland walks on the edge of the town
  • Shore paths along the tidal Kenmare Bay estuary
  • Views to the bay and the surrounding mountains
  • Free, sheltered and easy underfoot

Tips

  • Wear shoes that suit soft ground; parts can be muddy after rain.
  • Time the shore section for higher water on the estuary for the best of the views.
  • It is a short walk from the square, so no car is needed.
