Local Essentials
The practical stuff most travel sites skip. Everything you need to know before visiting Kenmare, from parking to pharmacies.
Accessibility
Town
Kenmare is a compact, mostly flat town centre with footpaths on the main streets, so getting between the restaurants, shops and the square on foot is straightforward, though some historic buildings have a step at the door; check with the venue.
Stone Circle
The Kenmare Stone Circle is a short walk from the square on a surfaced path with a field-gate entrance and grass underfoot inside; the ground can be uneven.
Reenagross
The Reenagross woodland park has surfaced and gravel paths through wood and along the estuary; some sections are level and some undulate. Contact the town for current path conditions.
For venue-level access, contact each place directly. The main obstacles are the steps into some older buildings and the uneven ground at the outdoor heritage sites.
ATMs & Banking
Bank and ATM in the town centre
Main Street and Henry Street, Kenmare
Kenmare has bank and ATM facilities in the town centre, more than most villages of its size, along with cash-back at some shops. Machines can run low at peak times around Fair Day and the August festival, so carry some cash for the cash-only spots such as Gleninchaquin Park and the stone-circle honesty box. Confirm specific machine locations on the ground.
Emergency Services
General Emergency
112 or 999
Coast Guard
112 or 999 (ask for the Coast Guard). Kenmare Bay is a tidal sea inlet used by cruises, kayakers and small craft; in a marine emergency dial 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard rather than calling any unit directly.
Garda Station
Kenmare Garda Station, Shelbourne Street, Kenmare, Co. Kerry, V93 WY91, +353 64 664 1177.
University Hospital Kerry (UHK), Rathass, Tralee, Co. Kerry, V92 NX94. 24-hour Emergency Department, roughly 55 to 65 km and about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes by road from Kenmare via the N71 and Killarney. Kenmare has no Emergency Department of its own, so in a life-threatening emergency this is the hospital to reach, and the travel time is worth planning for as a safety point.

Luggage Storage
There is no dedicated left-luggage office in Kenmare. Most accommodation will hold bags on the day of arrival or departure; ask directly.
Parking
Town-centre street and square parking
Rate: Confirm current rates locally
Parking in Kenmare is mainly on-street and around the market square, with some off-street car parks. The narrow X-plan streets clog with coaches and traffic around the middle of the day in summer, so arrive early and use off-street parking where you can. Confirm the current pay-and-display arrangements on the day.
Pharmacies
Sheahan's Pharmacy
18 Main Street, Kenmare, Co. Kerry, V93 KF79
A pharmacy on Main Street in the centre of town. Phone number not yet verified from an authoritative source; confirm before publishing.
Supermarkets & Groceries
Town-centre supermarkets and the market
Kenmare, Co. Kerry
Kenmare has full supermarket and grocery provision in the town, unusual for its size, along with a weekly market and a strong run of food shops, so it is a good place to stock up for a self-catering stay or a picnic on the drives. Confirm specific store names and hours on the ground.
Taxis & Rideshare
Local taxi and minibus drivers
Kenmare is served by local taxi and minibus drivers rather than a single large company. Booking ahead is wise in the evening and in peak season, and useful for one-way returns from the touring drives or a night out. Confirm the driver and price when you call.

WiFi & Connectivity
Pubs, cafes and accommodation
Most pubs, cafes, restaurants and accommodation in Kenmare offer free WiFi for customers and guests. Mobile coverage is generally good in the town but can drop on the touring drives over the Healy Pass and Moll's Gap and out along the bay.
SIM Cards
There are no dedicated phone shops in Kenmare; pick up a prepaid SIM in Killarney or before you travel. Three, Vodafone and Eir all have stores in Killarney, about 32 km away. A tourist SIM with data costs around €20.
