About
The Kenmare Stone Circle, known locally as the Druid's Circle, is a complete Bronze-Age monument a few minutes' walk from the market square, and one of the largest stone circles in the south-west of Ireland. Fifteen standing stones ring a central boulder dolmen, a large capstone raised on smaller supports, all set on a low rise above the town. It is an easy, rewarding stop that most visitors can reach on foot in five minutes, with an honesty box for a small entry, usually around a couple of euro, so bring coins. Quiet, atmospheric and genuinely old, it is the best piece of ancient history in the town itself.
