The Lime Tree
Shelbourne Street, Kenmare, Co. Kerry
About
The Lime Tree is one of the kitchens that made Kenmare a food town, set in a cut-stone building on Shelbourne Street that dates from 1832 and served for years as the town's schoolhouse. The cooking is modern Irish built on Kerry produce, local lamb and beef, seafood off the bay, garden vegetables, in a warm two-storey room hung with work by Irish artists. It is a proper sit-down dinner rather than a quick bite, the kind of place you book for the evening, and it has been a steady name on the town's dining scene for a long time. Reservations are advised, especially in summer and around the August festival.
