Corrib Cruises on Lough Corrib

The only way to see the lake that Cong sits on, run by a Cong-based operator from two piers a short distance apart. There are two products and the difference matters. The one-hour history cruise runs daily all year, leaving Ashford Castle Pier at 11:00 and Lisloughrey Pier at 11:15, with commentary on the shoreline, the crannogs and the old steamer route. The two-hour island cruise is seasonal, from the end of May to early October, leaving Ashford Castle Pier at 14:45 and Lisloughrey at 15:00, and it lands on Inchagoill with a guided walk around the island's early church sites. Lough Corrib is the second largest lake in Ireland and Inchagoill lies well down it, inside County Galway, so the afternoon sailing takes you into the next county and back.

- →The island cruise is the seasonal one. In 2026 it ran from 31 May to Saturday 4 October.
- →The Ashford Castle Pier departure costs more than the same sailing from Lisloughrey Pier: EUR 25 against EUR 20 on the history cruise, EUR 35 against EUR 30 on the island cruise.
- →There is also a Saturday and Wednesday six-hour Oughterard to Inchagoill to Cong return sailing in high summer, which is a day out rather than a trip.
- →Open boat in places. Bring a layer more than you think you need, even in July.
