Local Essentials
The practical stuff most travel sites skip. Everything you need to know before visiting Cashel, from parking to pharmacies.
Accessibility
Town Centre
The town centre runs along a single wide main street that is largely level and easy to walk, with footpaths throughout. The climb up to the Rock is the main challenge.
Rock
The Rock of Cashel sits on a limestone outcrop reached by a path that rises from the car park, and the medieval site has uneven ground, steps and grass underfoot. The OPW provides some assistance and a degree of access to parts of the site; contact the Rock of Cashel directly ahead of a visit to confirm what is possible for wheelchair users.
Hore Abbey
Hore Abbey sits in a field below the Rock, reached by a short walk on uneven ground, and is not formally accessible.
Station
There is no railway station in Cashel; the nearest is Thurles, about 21km away, which is accessible. Pre-arrange assistance with Iarnrod Eireann ahead of travel.
For venue-level access, contact each venue directly. The uneven medieval ground at the Rock and at Hore Abbey is the main obstacle for visitors with mobility needs; the town's main street itself is level and walkable.
ATMs & Banking
Main Street banks and shops
Main Street, Cashel
AIB has a branch at 66-67 Main Street. ATM provision in the town has changed in recent years, so it is worth drawing cash before you arrive and not relying on a single in-town machine. Morrissey's SuperValu on Main Street also offers cashback.
Bike Rental
No town bike-share scheme
Cashel has no public bike-share scheme. The town is compact and easily walked, and the Rock and Hore Abbey are both within a short walk of the centre. For touring the wider Golden Vale, check with accommodation providers for local bike hire.

Luggage Storage
There is no dedicated left-luggage office in Cashel. The hotels will usually hold bags for guests on arrival or departure day; confirm directly. Day visitors should plan around this, as there is no station locker in the town.
Parking
Rock of Cashel car park
Rate: Pay-and-display; confirm the current rate on arrival
Car park beside the Rock of Cashel at the top of the hill, the closest parking to the site. It fills early on summer mornings; the overflow and town-centre parking is a short walk down.
Main Street and town-centre parking
On-street and off-street pay-and-display parking through the town centre, operated by Tipperary County Council. The town is small and walkable, so park once and walk to both the Rock and the main street.
Pharmacies
Kennedy's Pharmacy
