Ghan House is a Georgian house of 1727 standing in its own walled garden at the southern edge of the village, a couple of minutes' walk from the Tholsel and the medieval streets. It has eleven bedrooms, all AA four-star rated, and it won the AA's national Guest Accommodation of the Year award in 2020. It is a member of Ireland's Blue Book and of Good Food Ireland, and its two AA Rosette restaurant is the best dining room in Carlingford, which makes a dinner-and-room stay the obvious way to use it. Views from the house take in Slieve Foye, the lough and the mountains on the far shore. It is the quiet, grown-up end of the Carlingford accommodation market, and it is deliberately not in the business of group weekends.
