The Mary Robinson Centre
About
Mary Robinson, the first woman President of Ireland and later UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, was born in Ballina in 1944. The Mary Robinson Centre, a centre for change set in her Victorian childhood home on the edge of the town centre, holds her archive and runs as a museum, research and events venue exploring her life and her work on human rights and climate justice. Opening arrangements have evolved as the project has developed, so check ahead before visiting, but it is a meaningful stop in the town that produced her, and a counterpoint to the salmon and the woods.
