Enniscrone Beach & Seaweed Baths
About
Ballina's nearest proper beach is the long Atlantic strand at Enniscrone, just over the Sligo border about 10 km north, a Blue Flag sweep of sand running for several kilometres along Killala Bay, popular for walking, surfing and a bracing swim. The other Enniscrone institution is Kilcullen's, a Victorian seaweed-bath house where you soak in hot seawater and steam in original porcelain baths, the classic North-West restorative after a day in the wind. Between the strand and the baths it makes the easiest half-day out from Ballina when the town has had enough of the river.
