Glasson Craft Gallery, in Glasson village about 10 km north-east of Athlone, has sold Irish craft since it opened in 2011: jewellery, millinery, knitwear, ceramics, glassware, homeware, woodturning and local artisan foods, alongside a fine-art and photography exhibition space and a bespoke picture-framing service. It was a nominee for the Irish Times Best Shops award in 2015 and 2016, and it makes a good stop on the way to or from Wineport Lodge or Glasson Golf Club, or a dedicated short drive out from Athlone for a genuine piece of Irish craft rather than mass-produced souvenirs.
