About
The old slate quay on the Seiont below the castle, where slate from the Nantlle quarries was shipped out. Cei Llechi's own history says the area was developed as a quay around 1780, the Harbour Trust office was added in 1840, and the De Winton engineering works, which supplied the north Wales slate quarries, had its office here. Galeri's trust and the Harbour Trust restored the derelict buildings into 19 workshops for local makers and a restaurant. Among them now are artists' studios, a ceramics gallery, a fudge shop, jam and Welsh cakes, cheesecake, and an Amgueddfa Cymru 'Museum on the Move' space. Historian Rhys Mwyn has written five walking tours of the town that start and finish here.
