A restaurant on Palace Street, a few doors from the castle end. Wal is Welsh for wall, and an old arched stone wall runs through the dining room. The menu runs from a day menu of soups, sandwiches, breakfasts and fish and chips to char-grilled Welsh Black steaks, pasta, risotto and pizza; the restaurant names its beef supplier as Wavells, a few miles up the road. Its site lists daytime opening every day and evenings on Friday and Saturday, and takes bookings by phone. Well-behaved dogs are welcome indoors on a lead.
