A café and bakery on the bank of the Grand Canal at Ballycommon Bridge, east of Tullamore, opened by Aoife Pilkington and her family as a direct response to the canal greenway. Home-baked cakes and scones, toasties and barista coffee, a stove inside and covered seating outside, and water and treats for dogs. It is the natural turning point on the towpath walk from Bury Quay, about eight kilometres along the canal, and Dick's Bike Hire works from the same spot if you want to ride back. It posts its opening times on Facebook rather than a website, so check the day before you set out.
