The single-storey stone cottage birthplace of Michael Collins at Woodfield, near Sam's Cross, a few kilometres from Clonakilty. Collins was born here on 16 October 1890; the original house was burned in 1921 during the War of Independence and later rebuilt. The site has been an OPW-maintained National Monument since 1990 and is free, unguided access.
