It is in Castlebar itself, on the western edge of the town, and it has a 24-hour Emergency Department treating all ages. It is the Emergency Department for the whole of Co. Mayo, so patients arrive here from Achill, Belmullet, Westport and Ballina as well as from the town.

For out-of-hours care when daytime surgeries are closed, Westdoc is the urgent GP service for Mayo (phone first, appointment only, not walk-in). The nearest 24-hour Emergency Department is at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar itself, off the Westport Road.
