Belleek Castle Museum Tour

← All things to do

About

Belleek Castle is a neo-Gothic manor built between 1825 and 1831 in the woods on the edge of Ballina, now run as a small hotel and restaurant, with a museum in its vaulted basement that is the real draw for day visitors. The guided tour takes in a collection of medieval armour and weapons, including a 13th-century chainmail suit, fossils and curiosities gathered by a former owner, and the bed reputed to have belonged to the pirate queen Grace O'Malley. The guides are the making of it, bringing the rooms and the relics to life. Tours run at scheduled times; check ahead and book, as the castle is a short drive from the centre through Belleek Woods.
