The newest serious kitchen in town, in the former chapel on Lion Street that was Chapters until its last service on 16 May 2026. Matt Sampson opened FIR here on 20 June 2026, per Nation.Cymru. The restaurant describes itself as a surprise multi-course tasting menu cooked for five tables, and its own site lists Casamia in Bristol, L'Enclume and Ynyshir among the kitchens Sampson came through. Service is evenings Wednesday to Saturday, with arrival between 18:15 and 18:30, plus a Saturday lunch sitting and a monthly Sunday session. Booking is online through the restaurant's own site and it is small enough that you should book well ahead. No price is printed on the restaurant's own pages; press coverage at opening put the menu at £98 for 14 courses, so confirm when you book.
