Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery

About
The town museum, in a Grade II listed former church on Bailiffgate, close to the castle's Bailiffgate entrance and run by volunteers. Two floors tell the story of the Alnwick area over 10,000 years and the top floor is a gallery of changing exhibitions. There is a lift to all floors and step-free access, a quiet hour from 10am to 11am every Friday with the audio turned down and the lights dimmed, and free support packs. Well-behaved dogs on a short lead may go on the museum floors but not up to the gallery. The museum notes that the Art Fund reduced-entry scheme no longer applies. It closes for winter maintenance from 3pm on 13 December 2026 and reopens at 10am on 12 January 2027.
