Sirocco's is the red-fronted Italian on Patrick Street, family-run and open since 1999, which in a town this size makes it an institution. The menu runs from pizza and pasta through local steak and lamb to fish, cooked in an open kitchen you can see from the tables. It is the default for a family birthday or a night out that does not need planning, and it was named Offaly's best restaurant and best for customer service at the Irish Restaurant Awards in the early 2010s. Evening tables are worth booking, by phone; the number is painted on the shopfront. Sirocco's posts menus and offers on its Facebook page rather than a website.
