Killahoey Beach (Trá na Cille)
About
The village strand, Trá na Cille in Irish, which runs east along the bay from the end of the village beside the golf links. Take the turn for the golf course as you come into the village and the road ends at a large car park with portable toilets; on foot it is about a 15-minute walk from the Square. Donegal County Council lists it among the county's eleven Blue Flag beaches and marinas for 2026, with lifeguards on duty from June to mid-September and a beach wheelchair available, and its own beach page gives lifeguard hours of 12:00 to 18:30. The council also notes it can be windy, being unsheltered, and that it is popular for surfing and kitesurfing. At low tide the rusting remains of the Dinas, a steam trawler that stranded here in 1937, sometimes show above the sand. When the tide is full in Dunfanaghy Bay you can get into the water straight from the village.
